Snow white makes the city calm. Flakes fall from the sky and I don’t even feel them land in my hair, on my nose and eyelashes. It begins just as the sun looses its hold. Light is gone but white is here and it’s falling steadily now. The concrete grey and dirtied rubbish, chewing gum stains that spot the walkways; they’re all blanketed in a fresh white layer. It’s layered upon layered, stained white because of the cold darkness.
